Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between GB and GiB?
1 GB (Gigabyte) = 10^9 = 1,000,000,000 bytes. 1 GiB (Gibibyte) = 2^30 = 1,073,741,824 bytes. Hard drive manufacturers use GB (decimal), while RAM and OS use GiB (binary).
How many MB in a GB?
1 GB = 1,000 MB (decimal) or 1,024 MiB (binary). A 256 GB SSD has 256,000 MB in decimal, but Windows shows ~238 GiB due to binary reporting.
How to calculate download time?
Time = File Size / Download Speed. A 5 GB file at 50 Mbps: (5 × 8,000) / 50 = 800 seconds ≈ 13.3 minutes. Convert GB to Mb first (1 byte = 8 bits).
